Overview
Shio Lim (she/they) is a PhD Student in Sociology at Cornell University. Their research explores the intersection of mental health and spirituality, with a focus on how contemporary crises—such as political and economic instability, climate change, and public health emergencies—shape mental health experiences and therapeutic practices. Currently, they are conducting a comparative study of conventional psychotherapists and holistic psychotherapists in the San Francisco Bay Area to examine the role of spirituality in psychotherapy.
Shio earned her Bachelor’s degree in 2019 in Gender and Sexuality Studies and Ethnic Studies from Brown University. She is a Health Policy Research Scholar (HPRS) and Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellow (MMUF).
