Robert and Ann Rosenthal Assistant Professorship of Sociology

Cornell’s Department of Sociology invites applications for the Robert and Ann Rosenthal Assistant Professorship of Sociology, which is a full-time, tenure track position, to begin July 1, 2020.

Preference will be given to a junior scholar who conducts quantitative research, broadly defined, on gender inequality. We especially encourage applications from scholars who combine the study of gender inequality with a cognate subfield (e.g., political sociology, cultural sociology) or will broaden the Department in other ways. Candidates in their final year of a PhD program or who already hold a PhD are invited to apply, but a PhD is required by the time of appointment.

Assistant Professor, Sociology

Cornell’s Center for the Study of Inequality (CSI) and Department of Sociology invite applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of assistant professor. The position will begin July 1, 2020.

The successful candidate will be appointed in the Department of Sociology, which will serve as the candidate’s tenure home and set teaching expectations. He or she will also be expected to participate in and contribute to the rich intellectual life and vibrant community of inequality scholars affiliated with CSI.

We seek scholars who have demonstrated excellence in research and teaching. Candidates may focus on any area of inequality, broadly defined, and use any method. We also encourage applications from scholars who combine inequality with a cognate subfield (e.g., computational sociology, political sociology, race and ethnicity, theory). Candidates must have a PhD by the time the appointment begins.
