Overview
Kelly Nielsen is a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Sociology at Cornell University. He received his PhD in sociology from the University of California, San Diego and his BA in Latin American studies from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). His research examines the role of institutions and narratives over time in the transition to adulthood for poor and working-class young adults. An article from this work appears in Sociology of Education and a book chapter appears in the edited volume Inequality, Power and School Success: Case Studies on Racial Disparity and Opportunity in Education.
