Overview
Eliza Mahoney is a first-year PhD student in Cornell's Department of Sociology. She is interested in the sociology of gender, sexuality, inequality, and culture. More specifically, Eliza aims to examine how social inequality and institutional contexts shape sexual behavior, relationships, and culture. She is also interested in cultural narratives and decision making around fertility, parenthood, and romantic partnership.
Before arriving at Cornell, she received a bachelor's degree in Psychology and Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies from Dartmouth College, where she studied "hookup culture” on campus.
