Overview
My research integrates social theory with computational methods. During the PhD I built on my background in mathematics and computer science with a deep reading of sociological theory, and skillsets such as network analysis, natural language processing, and interviewing, culminating in a mixed-methods analysis of the development of the social sciences and in uncovering and explaining significant artifacts in the history of Sociology. Orbiting this center of gravity are research streams in the fundamentals of social networks, simulation for social theorizing, epidemiological modeling, and microsociology using biometric sensors. Across my projects, I am committed to developing innovative tools for studying the social world and addressing current societal challenges.
Since graduating in 2023, I have been developing a textbook Chatbots for Social Change, and building Diplomatica.ai, an application that uses large language models (LLMs) to train conversational skills and introduce users to diverse perspectives in a safe and engaging environment.
